- My computer is quite old, 10.12.6 Mac Sierra, and I deleted Imovie quite a while ago. However, I need Imovie for a project at school. But when I try to download it again it says I need to update my computer, which I cannot do, due to some of the apps only running in 10.12. Can anyone provide me with a link to a version 9 Imovie? - Apple says iMovie requires a Mac running OS X Mavericks (version 10.9) or later. Apple also recommends at least 4 GB of memory. It goes without saying, of course, that the more memory you have (and the bigger your screen and the faster your processor), the happier you and iMovie will be.
I have just done a test and find that if I select a range within a clip in the timeline and then change the speed within the range, the Smooth button becomes active with Smooth ticked but you can untick it. (I also notice that the speed control turns from blue to orange when a clip has a range which has been speed-changed.)
To me iMovie 9.0 is fine, but I just want to update from 9.0 to 9.0.9 just in case and the software won't let me to update from 9.0 to 9.0.9 after 10.0.5 already installed. I agree that none of this seems to be documented in the help files - the only mention of the smooth speed transition is in connection with adding high frame rate clips that are to be automatically played as slow motion (http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov6c442b2eb)
